Designing for Home Hero, a captivating collection of innovative kitchen tools – including a can opener, salt grinder, and ice cream scoop – crafted to elevate the brand’s offerings and help customers master the art of cooking with ease and style.
Home Hero Utensils: Elevating Culinary Experiences
Home Hero, renowned for its high-quality kitchen utensils and iconic knife sets, has continuously enhanced the culinary experience with products that combine functionality and style. In recent years, the brand has expanded its lineup, and I had the opportunity to collaborate on several innovative utensils set to launch between 2022 and 2023. This upcoming collection includes a sleek can opener, a stylish salt and pepper grinder, a durable ice cream scoop, an exquisite Japanese knife, summer gadgets, and an advanced blender – each designed for durability, usability, and visual appeal. By blending Home Hero’s commitment to excellence with thoughtful design, this new range elevates cooking for both amateur and professional chefs, making each product a functional and aesthetically pleasing essential for modern kitchens.

ICE CREAM SCOOP
Currently available ice cream scoops in the market offer similar shapes, with the main distinction being the choice between scoops with or without springs. Through extensive testing, I discovered that scoops equipped with springs produce cleaner and more consistent ice cream balls. Consequently, I embarked on designing a new scoop that optimises this functionality.
To enhance the scoop’s performance, I focused on improving the grip by encasing the mechanism (including the spring, gear, and wire) within a durable plastic shell. Additionally, for superior comfort and a secure hold in hand, I incorporated soft TPE plastic on both sides of the scoop. These design enhancements ensure an enhanced scooping experience for ice cream enthusiasts
CAN OPENER
The can opener stands as an indispensable tool in every kitchen. As part of the Home Hero collection of new and innovative kitchen tools, I took on the task of designing a heavy-duty can opener that offers enhanced usability and a secure grip, specifically catering to individuals with more delicate hands. To accomplish this, I sketched various concepts and conducted a comprehensive audience test with participants in the US. With their invaluable feedback, we identified the most promising design, which was then produced and successfully launched on the market. Please see below for a glimpse of the final product.

SALT AND PEPER GRINDER
The salt & pepper grinder is a staple in every kitchen, essential for bringing flavor and freshness to any dish. As part of the Home Hero collection of innovative kitchen tools, we led the design of a modern grinder that combines ergonomic handling with precise grinding performance. To achieve this, we explored multiple design concepts and conducted user testing with a diverse group of participants, gathering insights on comfort, usability, and style. Incorporating their feedback, we refined the design to create a grinder that is both functional and visually striking, meeting the needs of home cooks and culinary enthusiasts alike. Below is a glimpse of the final product.
HAND BLENDER
The blender is envisioned as a versatile centerpiece for modern kitchens, designed to combine performance, usability, and sleek aesthetics. At the concept stage for Home Hero’s upcoming collection, we explored multiple forms, materials, and interface ideas to ensure an intuitive and enjoyable user experience. Early sketches and prototypes focused on ergonomics, blending efficiency, and visual harmony, aiming to create a product that feels both innovative and essential. While still in development, this concept sets the foundation for a blender that balances functionality with contemporary design, ready to meet the evolving needs of home cooks.
ICE CUBE TRAYS
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy sunny days, outdoor celebrations, and refreshing drinks with the new Home Hero Summer Ice Cube Trays. No gathering is complete without a toast and expertly crafted cocktails. To enhance summer beverage experiences, we designed a set of charming Ice Cube Trays for Home Hero. These trays add a playful and practical touch to any drink, keeping them cool and refreshing.
